DINGWALL SALE REPORT 31 MARCH 2010

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (March, 31st) sold 793 store cattle and 25 OTM cattle at their annual show and sale, the severe weather disruption reduced the entry and the number of purchasers but the sale still resulted in an extremely satisfactory trade with quality stock keenly sought after and HI Health and breeding potential heifers meeting premium prices.

 

Bullocks (475) averaged 189.2p and sold to 260.7p per kg for a pen of three 280kg Limousin crosses from Westburn, Murkle, and £1,100 gross for a 640kg Belgian Blue cross from Easter Clune, Lethen.

 

Heifers (358) averaged 209.2p and sold to 412.6p per kg for a pair of 412kg Belgian Blue crosses from Bunchrew Farm, Inverness, and £1,750 gross for a pair of 475kg Belgian Blue crosses also from Bunchrew Farm.

 

Young bulls (7) sold to 187.5p per kg for a 320kg Limousin cross from Flowerburn Mains, Fortrose, and £710 gross for a pen of 409kg Simmental crosses from Easter Urray, Muir of Ord.

 

OTM prime and feeding cows (19) averaged 106.7p and sold to 121.4p per kg for a 935kg Belgian Blue cross from Glenaldie, Tain, and £1,015 gross for a 920kg Charolais cross from Tore Mains, Tore.

 

OTM clean bullocks and heifers (4) averaged 116.6p and sold to 142.7p per kg and £685 gross for a 480kg Simmental cross from Bogroy Farm, Tore.

 

OTM bulls (2) averaged 106.8p and sold to 107.3p per kg and £1,175 gross for a 1,095kg Limousin from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin.

 

The Ness Motors, Robertsons of Tain, H.I.S Inverness and N.F.U Dingwall sponsored Show and Sale of store cattle judged by John Henderson, Udale, Poyntzfield, awarded his overall champion to a 550kg Limousin cross heifer from Messrs MacIver Partners, Easter Strath of Auchterflow, realising £1,300 gross to the judge. Reserve champion was a 525kg Limousin cross heifer also from Easter Strath of Auchterflow, realising £1,160 to the judge.
